The Megalithic Transport Network is part of a larger national rail system which links historical sites throughout Derbyshire and neighbouring counties, such as standing stones, circles and tors.

Formed in the late 1970s as part of a cultural shift and renewed government interest in megalithic lore, it soon became apparent that a formalised mass transit system was needed to serve the growing ideological and religious concerns of the nation. Over a period of 10 years many of Derbyshire’s landmark historical sites were linked to the national rail network, with large stations, termini and halts being erected to cater for visitors and government leaders. During the 1990s demand on the network grew, and the Government invested large sums of public money to cover the costs of more frequent services and upgrades to ageing rolling stock.

Today, the network sees thousands of passengers a day, arriving at hundreds of destinations up and down the country.

This recording soundtracks Phase 1 of the Network, encompassing sites in the Derbyshire Peak District. All downloades include high quality images of the Network Map, Network Introduction and Network Proposal.

Recorded live using an AE Modular Synthesiser.

Great record. wears it's influences proudly ..but retains a sliver of identity that is uniquely British and has a northern feel to it..I think that these geographic musical vignettes are realy evocotive of northern Newtown Uber estates and satellite communities..I hope this translates to a wider audience for him...he deserves the attention. give him his due .NOW . christopherogley
